Alright, I wanna talk about these two ladies. One is Jack from Mass Effect and the other is Isabela from Dragon Age. They’re both from Bioware games and they both have difficult pasts with some traumatic-ass experiences that include abandonment, torture, imprisonment, slavery, sexual assault and being fucking sold like they aren’t even human beings.

They also have something else in common. They’re both love interests that the player character can have casual sex with. And while that’s an interesting similarity, it is also what makes them completely fucking different.

Yeah, you can have casual sex with Jack, but given where her head is at when you first meet her, it’s no surprise that she doesn’t fucking talk to you afterwards. You don’t give a shit about her, you’re obviously not listening to her, and that means you don’t respect her. It makes you like everyone else who has literally and figuratively fucked her over without any regard for what she wanted. Jack is an individual with her own needs, and if you ignore those needs you don’t fucking deserve her trust anymore.

Now casual sex with Isabela; that’s a whole other fucking story (pun intended). It comes with passion and playful music. Afterward she says “That was fun” and you say “Yeah totes” and you two resume your friendship. No bullshit. If you fall in love with someone else she genuinely wishes you the best. If you decide you do want to pursue something with her, you better be patient cause that shit’s gonna take some time. Either way, Isabela is in the right place emotionally to have fast, casual sex.

Both of these women have overcome a lot and accomplished even more. They are fighters in every sense of the word. But just because they seem strong doesn’t mean you can treat them however the fuck you want. One woman’s decisions and reasoning don’t make her any better than another woman, they just make her who she is. Every woman is different, and every woman’s sexual needs and choices need to be fucking respected.
